Comprehensive Midwifery Care
Maven Midwifery provides comprehensive maternity care for families planning a home birth. From your first prenatal visits through birth and the weeks following, you receive care from the same midwife who gets to know you, your family, and your pregnancy.
Our care includes prenatal care, preparation for birth, attendance throughout labor and birth, and postpartum and newborn care. We intentionally maintain a small caseload so that there is time for personal, unhurried care throughout the process.

A free consultation gives you a chance to meet Jessica, learn more about home birth and midwifery care, and ask the questions that matter to you. We'll talk about your pregnancy, your hopes and priorities for birth, and whether Maven Midwifery is a good fit for your family.

Begin Care
Prenatal Care
Regular prenatal visits allow us to follow the health of you and your baby while also giving us time to talk. Visits include routine assessment and screening, and are also a place for questions, nutrition, birth preparation, and the choices you will encounter throughout pregnancy.
As your pregnancy progresses, visits become more frequent so that we have plenty of time to prepare for birth together.

Your visit schedule:
As your due date approaches, our focus increasingly turns toward preparing for labor, birth, and the first hours with your baby.
We'll talk about when to call, what to have ready at home, what to expect during labor, and what we will do if circumstances change or additional care is needed. Before labor begins, the goal is for you, your family, and the birth team to know what to expect and feel prepared for the different ways birth may unfold.
You'll receive a short list of supplies to have ready at home. Maven Midwifery brings the clinical equipment and supplies needed for your birth.
Preparing for your birth
Labs & Imaging
Routine laboratory testing can be ordered or coordinated as needed and is billed separately. Ultrasound and other imaging services are provided by outside facilities.
When Additional Care Is Needed
Pregnancy doesn't always follow the expected course. If something develops that requires additional medical evaluation or makes a planned home birth inappropriate, we'll talk through what is happening, discuss your options, and help coordinate appropriate care.
Labor & Birth
When labor begins, you'll have direct contact with your midwife. We'll stay in communication during early labor and decide together when it's time for the birth team to come to your home.
During active labor, your midwife monitors the well-being of you and your baby while supporting the natural progression of labor. You are free to move, rest, eat, drink, and labor in the positions and spaces that feel right to you. A birth assistant will normally join your midwife so that additional trained help is available when needed.
Throughout labor and birth, we'll continue to assess how you and your baby are doing and respond as circumstances change. If additional evaluation or hospital care becomes appropriate, we'll discuss what is happening and help make that transition as smoothly as possible.
Care in the place you call home
There is no rush to separate mother and baby or move on to the next thing. We remain with you while you settle in together, monitoring recovery and your baby's transition after birth.
Before leaving, we'll complete maternal and newborn assessments, support the first feeding, and make sure you and your baby are stable and comfortable. Once everything is well, we leave your family at home to rest together.
After your baby arrives
Postpartum & Newborn Care
Our care doesn't end when the birth team leaves. The first days and weeks with a new baby bring recovery, adjustment, feeding, growth, and plenty of questions. Postpartum visits give us time to check on both you and your baby and support your family as you settle in together.
We'll provide routine maternal and newborn assessments, support feeding and breastfeeding, and provide or coordinate appropriate newborn screenings and follow-up care within our scope of practice.

This schedule is flexible. Visits can be added or adjusted based on the needs of you and your baby.
Beyond six weeks
Your final postpartum visit marks the completion of comprehensive maternity care, but it doesn't have to mark the end of our relationship. We're always happy to hear from the families we've cared for and to remain a resource when we can.
Other Care & Support
Care doesn't always fit neatly into a package
Comprehensive home birth care is the heart of Maven Midwifery, but we may also be able to provide individualized care and support when the full home birth package isn't the right fit.
Depending on your needs and our availability, this may include prenatal co-care, support surrounding a planned hospital birth, postpartum and newborn care after a hospital birth, breastfeeding support, and other maternal or reproductive care within our scope of practice.
