About Maven Midwifery
Meet your midwife
Home birth and midwifery have been part of Jessica's life for as long as she can remember. She grew up in a large family where home birth was normal, and as a girl often accompanied her midwife aunts to care for their babies while they attended births. Years later, Jessica would welcome each of her own eight children at home with midwives by her side.
Before becoming a midwife, Jessica spent more than 15 years serving communities in Utah and Wyoming as an Advanced EMT. After moving her family to the Big Horn Basin in 2022, she experienced firsthand how difficult it could be to find a home birth midwife. With a lifelong love of birth, years of healthcare experience, and a desire to serve her community, she felt called to help fill that need.
Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science in Midwifery from Mercy in Action College of Midwifery and completed her clinical training with three midwives in Utah and Wyoming, gaining experience in both home birth and birth center practices. She is a Certified Professional Midwife and Wyoming Licensed Midwife and has attended more than 60 births.

Pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes, and we believe they are best supported with thoughtful care, good information, and respect for the individual woman and her family.
Jessica's role is not to make your decisions for you or to create a particular kind of birth. It is to help you understand your options, prepare well, and provide skilled, attentive care as you make the choices that are right for you and your baby.
Pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and the postpartum transition are normal processes that deserve to be supported rather than unnecessarily directed. Care is attentive and watchful, with intervention or additional support when circumstances call for it.
Physiologic Birth
Good decisions begin with good information. Jessica wants you to understand your options, including their benefits, risks, and alternatives, and to have an active voice in the decisions surrounding your pregnancy and birth.
Informed Choice
Trust takes time. A small caseload allows Jessica to know the women and families in her care personally, understand what matters to them, and provide care shaped around their individual needs rather than treating every pregnancy the same.
Relationship Based Care
Preparing for birth, whatever course it takes
A good birth experience isn't defined by everything going exactly according to plan. Jessica wants women to enter birth physically and emotionally prepared, surrounded by people they trust, and confident in their ability to make decisions even when circumstances change. Whether your baby is born at home with Jessica, with a backup midwife, or after a transfer to the hospital, the goal is for you to remain an informed and active participant in your own birth.
